Secura Review, July, 2018
We recently had to make a claim for hail damage on our roof. The Secura representative who initially worked with us on the claim was extremely helpful and told us that we would hear from the adjuster within the next two days. Within a day the adjuster called and looked at our roof the following day. The adjuster was friendly, helpful and professional. The adjuster processed all the information and responded back to us within two days. We have been extremely pleased with both the service and the helpfulness of Secura's staff. Our roofing contractor was so impressed with Secura's service that he asked for the name and contact information of our insurance agent so that he could discuss obtaining insurance from Secura.

Incredible customer support and service, June, 2018
Recently had a huge hailstorm. We have Secura for both our home and vehicles. Secura was very timely, very supportive and there was no red tape. The roof is being installed later this week and the vehicles being repaired soon. Excellent service.
Fast and Easy Claim Process, June, 2018
I have home and car insurance with Secura. My policy activated on May 20th and on Memorial Day my area had a horrible wind storm come through. I had multiple trees damaged, one fell on my house piercing through my roof, and one of my vehicles was damaged. I contacted my local agent who submitted my claim to Secura. I was assigned agents very quickly to assess my immediate needs and to make sure my family was safe. Claims were paid out quickly once estimates to repair the damage was submitted. I was told to get the tree off the house and roof repaired and a payment would be released immediately to cover the costs. This did occur.
Secura did hire a 3rd party company to evaluate and estimate the damage. I was not impressed at all with that company. Their initial estimate was drastically lower than reality but when I questioned him, he did 're-work' the numbers and the amount more than doubled.
One thing I am very happy with, Secura has issued initial payment for the repair of my roof, but have left the claim open as there could be unseen damage that we will not know of until the shingles are removed.
I was hesitant to purchase Secura coverage due to a lot of horrible reviews surrounding their claims process, but my local agent stated he has always had attentive service from Secura. I will say I am very HAPPY that I took a change and purchased coverage with Secura. They have been wonderful. But I would caution regarding the use of 3rd party companies. They may not have the same ethics and morals as Secura.
Very hard to get claim approved, May, 2017
We had some pretty extensive storm damage. I have roof damage along with gutter and siding damage and claim was denied. Adjuster low balled the estimate to literally nothing so they wouldn't pay. Every neighbor on both sides of me are getting the entire roof and siding replaced with no problems. Stick with a name you can trust.

Don't be fooled by them. Their insurance adjuster came out after my roof guy said I had hail damage. Adjuster did not even go on roof and said no hail damage. Secura then offered to have an independent "expert" come out that "they" pay for. He said I did have hail damage only it was mechanically damaged in other words I did it....that's after their employee said no hail damage.
Don't waste your money on them you will find out only when you have a claim that they do not pay. Ten years of premiums with no claims. This is also after my neighbor behind me had his roof replaced from hail damage from his insurance company.

How can someone work for secura and get paid for doing nothing??? Hail claim gets denied when the woman Penny whoever never even got on my roof! She wants a mans job then lady I suggest you do your job my next move is to hire my own adjuster and bill secura!!! Now I have leaks because I was told I have no roof damage you tell me you're not getting on my roof because of weather well lady its been in the 60's and beautiful out I see no reason why you can't get on my roof then I hear from friends who have secura for their insurance that you're known for denying claims well last I checked I pay for my insurance not you and the money to pay for my roof doesn't come out of your pocket its comes from what I pay into my insurance!!!! Either do your job or quit your job!!!! Am I satisfied with this company absolutely not!!!! I have a so called premier agent and I will complain to them!!!!
Secura will not cover boat motors, October, 2014
Hit a sandbar on Mississippi river with outboard. Submitted a claim and was told that the loss was due to lack of maintenance or improper operation. Don't insure your toy's and expect them to be covered when you do have an accident. No matter how many years you are claim fee!

Do not cancel you policy with secura. you will not get a full refund for the unused portion. Instead they wait until the policy is almost used up then refund a small portion of your money back. I cancelled policy in April 2015 and it took until September for them to finally send me a check, but only for a fraction of what it was supposed to be. Been fighting for the rest of the money for months but no one at secura will help me. Stay away from this insurance company!!
Policy and Customer Service Outrageous, May, 2018
I am livid! I've just received a "letter of discontinued policy" due to owning an "ineligible breed of dog," a pit/terrier mix. I've had the dog 10 years and the insurance more than 3. By being honest and admitting I had a mixed breed dog, she was completely thrown under the bus. You offered me no rider to my policy, only a letter of discontinuing my coverage. I'm reporting this "bad form" to the Insurance Commission, the Better Business Bureau and our local media. Secura, when someone is honest with you, you need to return the favor! Why didn't you give me a "heads-up" that my mixed breed terrier is on your so-called "ineligible dog" list? Completely unprofessional and handled in the worst way!

I have to start by saying how grateful I am to be apart of such a great insurance company. From the initial process of calling, Matt Bly was able to quickly visit my house and start the process. The contractors and Matt was able to work on getting the claim to move forward. Within a week and a half, I was able to get it approved and a check sent. The best part of this insurance company is Matt Bly. He makes you feel comfortable and assures you that everything is going to be okay and that he is available with resources to get you through it. Highly recommended and thank you also to Jodi Gritz from Cox Insurance for finding me a great homeowners insurance right here in Minnesota.

Secura was great until I needed them, August, 2018
Had a claim for a leaking pipe below our concrete basement floor in 2017; another claim for hail damage to our roof in 2018, then Secura unceremoniously dumped us.

Worst Insurance, November, 2017
Worst insurance company I have every had to deal with!! They have the mentality that they are better than the consumer and when damages to your home happen will try and force you to settle for half or less of what actual damages and repair costs are. Zero common sense in this company. Property was damaged from severe wind and hail storm, have been fighting to get paid since June of 2016. Hired an Engineer to come out and address my windows that Secura missed and Secura finds it acceptable to offer$150/window to remove, install and trim on steel clad, double pane big windows and patio doors. They also will not deny claim, they keep low balling offers that are a quarter of all estimates I have received. Also refusing to pay for windows that are clearly damaged. Zero Ethics in this Company.

We had never had a homeowners claim in our lives (in 23 years of owning homes) so we didn't know what to expect. Our Insurance Adjuster, Matt Lynch, was as good as we could have possible hoped for. He was/is extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, & worked tirelessly to make everything come together for us. It's no fun having damage to your home & personal belongings, but with Matt's help it wasn't near as bad as we had feared. I would recommend Matt & Secura to anyone. Thanks so much to Matt & Secura for all your help when we needed it most.

I had a fire damage claim to my garage and its contents. Within 2 hours of me submitting the claim an adjuster called me and setup a time to meet. He reviewed my coverage, explained the investigation process and how to complete a personal property inventory listing on my claim. Great customer service and my claim was settled fairly.

I can't say enough how pleased I am with Secura and my agent Adam Ness. Unfortunately I had to file a claim due to a small kitchen fire. Secura was quick to respond, I was put in touch with my agent within an hour of calling in to file a claim. The customer service provided to me during a stressful situation was top notch. Adam answered all of my questions quickly, he was extremely professional and also empathetic at the same time. This is one of the reasons I love Secura, I was treated with concern and care, and also personalized service. I did not just feel like a "number" or an inconvenience. My agent was prompt in returning phone calls or emails. My claim was handled efficiently, and settled fairly. Secura and my agent made the process seamless and as less stressful as possible. I can't say enough positive things about Secura, they are excellent. Secura is fortunate to have Adam Ness as a representative, his customer service was exemplary. It is rare to find someone like Adam, he certainly is an asset to their company.
I rarely write reviews, but this was so warranted. Secura is top notch and should be commended for the excellent company they are, and the excellent service they provide. They certainly put their clients first, focus strongly on customer service,
while being fair at the same time, and in my experience are certainly are careful who they chose to represent them as a company. Filing claims are never fun, but Secura has always made they process as painless as possible. I would never recommend any other company. On a side note, we have had Secura for almost 8 years, we had to file a hail claim on our auto policy and I also had the same excellent experience. My claim was handled professionally, quickly, fairly and my experience was extremely positive with Secura for my auto insurance as well.

Excellent service, even when I was slow, December, 2016
I had a small claim of stolen property (~$2k). I submitted a claim right away and the Secura agent worked with me on getting copies of the police report. It was a busy time for me, so it took a while for me to get around to filling out the claims forms (but only like an hour to fill them out), but the agent was patient with me and checked in to make sure I was still pursuing the claim. When I got around to submitting the forms, they quickly approved it and sent me the check. Very pleased with Secura.
Outstanding Experience with Secura claims, September, 2016
Recently we had a fire in our home. This was our first claim with Secura. Without a doubt they exceeded our expectations in every area. Adjuster Matt Bly was communicative, responsive and very fair. In particular, their careful attention to our displacement needs was amazing. My family was well cared for by Secura. The day after the fire Secura replaced my sons technology to bring him comfort. We recently had a house fire , and Secura Insurance couldn't have been better. Devin O Brien managed our claims, and provided us with information on every aspect of the process. Phonecalls were immediately returned, and any issue was addressed. and explained throughly. I've recommended secura to many people. It made a very difficult period as tolerable as possible.

We had major hail damage to our house and our adjuster Matt Bly was fantastic! He came out, did a thorough job of assessing the damage and was always available for questions. Even when we needed more money for repairs, he immediately adjusted the amount. Not sure about all the negative ratings of Secura on this page, but I have nothing bad to say. Very pleased with the handling of our claim after the catastrophic hail event our town went through!

After having hail damage I called and reported the damage. Was given a claim # and the adjuster was on slate in seven days with the damage in the area I felt that this was a prompt reply. Claim was handled fast and up dated when adjuster over looked steep roof . All people I dealt with were great.

As with any carrier, your insurance agent is a key person to help you to feeling cared about and making sure you are taken care of to your satisfaction. It is too bad that the folks that gave reviews did not have help from their agents. I did. Happy with the company, my coverage and how claims were handled. Will stay with them.

I'm surprised to see so many negative replies. My home was hit with hail which damaged my roof and siding. My agent Matt Bly, met with me to access the damage. It took no time for Secura to cut me my first check to get the project started. Matt was very helpful through the whole process.

Fire claim to my tractor, December, 2015
I had a fire in my storage shed that housed my large lawn mower/tractor. The fire was caused by a faulty battery charger that shorted out. The adjuster was timely, pleasant and understanding of the situation. The largest portion of the claim was the large lawn mower/tractor, I had Kubota with a three point hitch and a 60'' mower deck from 1990 and was able to replace it with a brand new John Deere with no issues!! The John Deere has many more options than my older Kubota but the frame and engine size are similar. Thank you for a job/claim well done. Great company and claim department that stand behind what they sell.

Our home was flooded due to a defective toilet valve. Our claims adjuster was very responsive and even called us at 9pm the day it happened just to check on us! He was out the next morning, approved the claim within hours. I would highly recommend Secura to anyone!

Secura has been a pleasure to deal with, especially adjuster Penny Shewmaker. Though I recently switched companies due to cost, they opened a new claim on damage that occurred during their coverage span, and were a pleasure to deal with throughout process. I highly recommend them, and will likely be a customer again soon if they are competitive from a price basis.

I had a my hail claim denied with massive amount of damage. I am literally the only person in my entire neighborhood with a denied claim. Their report even goes on to say that no hail damage has occurred even though I have dents in my gutters, fascia, garage, roof is damaged and have broken siding! Literally every single one of my neighbors have had full roof and siding replacements.

I have received a check; however, as far as I'm concerned, this claim might not be complete. I have Hunter Douglas blinds (expensive - $949) that need to be opened completely to see what mold might be there. I have rolled them down a bit and spotted some mold, but I've requested help to look further.
Loss Agent Was Exceptional, July, 2018
I had a car crash into my backyard and it has been a difficult journey getting our lives back together. With that being said, Tony Suriano, our adjuster, has been an absolute pleasure to work with and has made the process so much better than it would've otherwise been. Both of my neighbors had the same car crash through their backyard and have been fighting with their adjuster throughout the entire process. Tony was fair and reasonable throughout everything and made this horrible experience a lot better. Thanks for everything Tony!
